Revolutionising Hop Propagation: Our Journey with the new Permanent Layer Bed (PLB)

The journey to creating our new Permanent Layer Bed (PLB) started years ago, but 2023 marked the beginning of its construction. This long-awaited project is transforming how we cultivate and propagate hops.

A Fresh Take on Traditional Layering

By embracing time-tested layering techniques, we can now produce rhizomes that develop into larger, one-year-old bare root plants. These robust plants establish much earlier than those grown from vegetative cuttings, leading to stronger yields and healthier crops.

Sustainability at Our Core

One of the biggest wins? Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Since we no longer need to force mother plants into early growth with artificial heating and lighting, our tunnels require significantly less energy, helping to lower our carbon footprint while maintaining top-tier plant quality.

A Garden Built for Success

Our new hop gardens have been custom-engineered for optimal growth. Wider rows ensure better sunlight exposure and even flower development, fostering a more productive and resilient crop.

80+ Varieties, One Commitment to Quality

With over 80 hop varieties meticulously cultivated in designated marker areas, our PLB is designed for precision. Regular inspections and strict quality control ensure that every plant remains true to type, setting a new standard for hop propagation.

We’re proud to merge tradition with innovation, creating a sustainable future for hop farming, one plant at a time!
