Boadicea was the world’s first aphid resistant variety and as such is the most environmentally friendly hop available. Boadicea was released in 2004 by Horticulture Research International (HRI) at Wye College in the UK from ‘open crossing’ of aphid resistant hedgerow varieties.
It is naturally resistant to aphids and has good resistance to wilt and downy mildew therefore requiring fewer pesticides than any other hop. Its storage stability is good. Boadicea is an unusual hedgerow hop and is excellent for finishing and dry hopping.
